A Day On My Own.

Published by under Uncategorized

Is that selfish or nice? It may be both. Today Jared, three children and my in-laws went to Puffin Billy, I asked if I could stay home. Jared said that I could. I went to do some food shopping, I put down the Christmas decorations, prepared some tea, and not much else. Sweet. Everyone had a nice day, and I feel more peaceful. Do you ever feel that you need some time to just sit? I don’t even like tea or coffee, but I like the picture.

Speaking of which. I must be related to Robin Hood right? Here is a great Picture of Steph doing the whole archery thing.Well, she looks like she knows what she is doing.

Change of Plans

Published by under Uncategorized

My in-laws weren’t coming down for Christmas this year, but they had a dear friend die, so they came down the day before. Man, am I glad I cooked like a wild ninja the day before. I have so much cooked Turkey, Beef, Chicken and pork in the fridge, that I am actually getting sick of it myself.

Monday we dropped Steph and Lachlan off to camp, it will be nice to have just the younger ones for a while (and did I say the in-laws too?). After dropping the kiddies off, we went and visited Jared’s Grandparents, and had tea with them. Today we went to the Aquarium, which Camden and I love. We actually became members again, because I can get my money’s worth if I go twice more times in the year (easy).

I bought this DVD today, it was great. I also got it for 20% off.

Lachlan turned 14 on Monday. This photo cracks me up, the things I get the children to do. Christmas night I told them to wrap a tea towel over their head and to play tactile dominoes. So It wasn’t that fun, and it was hard to breathe under that thing!!

Christmas Doings.

Published by under Uncategorized

The morning began with present opening around 6am. The tradition in our family is that I fill up a sack for each child, leave it on their bed before midnight, and then they bring it up to our bedroom in the morning. There is always much excitement. Personally I think that the present giving was tame this year, I tried not to overdo it, and the children were the better for it.

We headed off to Church in the morning (as this is what Christmas is really all about isn’t it,  Christ?) Jared preached a great mini sermon. I feel so encouraged when he preaches, I actually want to cry. He spoke of Jesus’s name, meaning “God saves”. God became man, so that he could die for sinners (that’s me, and you folks).

We then went for lunch to my Sister and brother in-laws. It was a very peaceful Christmas. It was lovely to re-connect with the children. They all get along really well.It was lovely just to see them all together.

Jared gave me 1 TB of external hard drive, cool as! Now I can take photos like a crazy woman. Hee hee. Look what Steph crocheted me.They are peas in a pod 😀

We drove home at 4pm, so we missed the major traffic home. .we have eaten another, yummy roast. We are watching Get Smart now, but it’s when they are older (don’t bother buying it, it’s stupid).

A Great Idea.

Published by under Uncategorized

Ok, so my daughter reminded me that I should be cooking for the neighbours, how did that slip my mind? So, at 10 pm, I decided to cook. The fudge failed, but the toffee, the gingerbread, the rocky road, and the two different muffins worked. We didn’t give a basket to everyone in the street this year, only to seven.simple designs ( I could claim that the children did it, but they didn’t)The firemen came tonight, to give all the children some lollies. How cool is that? I must say that the firemen didn’t really seem that jolly this year. Jared’s parents have arrived for Christmas, so I will get off the computer now, and speak to them. Have a nice Christmas everyone, Godbless.

Wednesday.

Published by under Uncategorized

I have been waking up this week, wondering, what day is it? Well, it’s Wednesday. Washing, cleaning, and sorting. The children came back from the sleepover, very happy. I took the kiddies to a party, and of course, picked them up again. We then went to a park, and had fish n chips for tea.I have three engagement presents to buy. So nice to see young ones get married. I had someone say to me not long ago, that it is silly to marry so young, why? Anyway, here is one present ready to be wrappedI have a heap of items ready to divide between three missionary families. Alycia brought home some Das from mum’s house, so she got to work. Look what she made, how cute is this. A lovely little vase. She also made a horse.Stephanie has been busy making Camden a Christmas present.A Crocheted Tiger!I bought this cute set yesterday for $10. It’s a Roman set, perfect for those Latin lessons. Here is Caecilius and Metella ;D

The Week Before Christmas.

Published by under Uncategorized

So, the Christmas presents are wrapped, and under our fake tree. One Birthday (Cassandra’s has passed), and we have two more birthdays in our little family, Lachlan next (on the 27th), and then Camden (3rd Jan), as you can see, i’t is a very expensive time for us. The best gift that Cassandra recieved was from Steph. She crocheted a ninja, and wrote a story to go with it, it’s a classic!Cassandra always says that she wants to be a rockstar ninja, go figure!

Today we headed off to the beach, I love the beach. I love the water, I could sit and watch it for ages. The children love the sand, I don’t love the sand.I love this picture of Steph. The water was very rough. We had lunch at La Porchetta, and I saw this sign, it makes you think, even if it was said by Bruce Lee.We also went to the Dandenong market, I hate crowds. I’m not very good at pushing past people, so I tend to just be knocked around, by everyone in different directions, I feel like a dodgem car! We had a peek through Savers the opp shop, and look what Alycia found for 5.99. This cute doll, it’s a good brand too.Jared kept saying that it’s head is too big, and that it has encephalitis (enlargement of the head). Don’t worry newly named Esther, we love you and your big head.

Now, I am thinking that I might need to do a giveaway in the next week, afterall it is Christmas 😀

Party Time.

Published by under Family

Cassanndra had her little party today, we invited one family over to help her celebrate it. We started with a pinata.played pass the parcel and made a few badges (well, actually I did, the kiddies ran off to play). I was lazy and made an ice cream cake of Barbie, do you like the glasses? When our visitors left, Camden had a good talking to, he was so revved up, and that was before the sugar hit!

Steph left for her hike this morning. My dear girl is in a tent tonight somewhere in Wilsons Prom. Her bag weighed 12kg, she is only 48 kg! I felt like tipping her over. No doubt she will be exhausted when she comes home tommorow night.Just for interest, look what I found in an opp shop. They were 50c each. I wanted the lot, but they wanted $150 for them, so that was the end of that. I bought a few, and then went back with my mum, and she bought me a few more, thanks mum.

My little Christmas cook. Do you like her apron? It’s made from a tea towel! Cassandra received it in her swap yesterday. What a great idea, an apron from a tea towel. They have folded the tea towel, cut out an arch for the arm holes, then with a long piece of bias binding you start with a tie, then sew under one arm, a loop for the neck, and then down under the other arm, leaving the extra for the tie. She also recieved a packet of gingerbread cutters, and some cards with stickers. She just loves craft.

Today we are getting ready for a little party for her.

Jared took the children to work today, to be his helpers. I was left at home, with Cassandra. What a lovely day we had. We went for a walk, made party bags, and then made cupcakes. She said today “your nice today mum”, I hate it when she says that, it means that I’m horrible other times. The truth is, we don’t spend a lot of one on one time together, which I miss.  It was lovely to have lots of cuddles today, and to give her lots of attention.

This is a photo of Cassandra cooking. Her auntie gave her a bunch of icing and edible flowers etc, so we got to making cupcakes last week. I think that she did a great job. They tasted ok too!

More Computer Space!

Published by under swaps

At last, I can upload my photos. Now, what has been happening around here? I received my Grundle from Lyn on Friday. I love the colours, isn’t it cute? She also gave me a cute little note pad, thanks Lyn.Alycia recieved her Christmas Swap, she loved it. I loved the way that all the craft items were sewn into a neat bag. Alycia got to work straight away. Here are some dolls and teddies that I made to sell, to donate the money to the children’s youth group. How much do you think sold? Nothing!! The baby dolls were only$5. Worse still, I actually lost a bear (heartbreak). I saw a boy ready to throw it, then I was distracted. At the end of the night, I couldn’t find it. The rings that Alycia made, sold. She made $5.50, not the biggest donation anyone has ever seen. The children had a 70’s night dinner as a fund raiser. Here are only a handful of the children. It was a lovely night.Jared received  a card with a balloon, from Melbourne Uni, to congratulate him for finishing his doctorate. Jared was embarrassed to have a photo taken with it, so I held it up in front of him instead. My mum came over today, to give Cassandra her birthday present. Cassandra was very excited, and was upset when Nana left (she wanted to go home with her). She told me that she loves how everything is clean and neat at Nana’s house (what’s that, a guilt trip?).

Tonight I went on an information night with Steph, for her Girls Brigade. She is getting ready for her first hike. The backpack is nearly bigger than her!

A Close Call

Published by under Uncategorized

This afternoon, while driving down Eastlink at 1ookm an hour, a small truck in front of me, carrying planks of wood, suddenly had one loose. The plank came straight for us. I swerved, then realised that it was a bit flexible, so I straighted up, and headed for it. I just knicked it, boy it could have been tragic though.

Thank you God, for keeping us safe.

Latin

Published by under sewing

My husband is my teacher, he is teaching me Latin, I didn’t want to learn latin, but now I am. I am trying to be good, it is very hard, (to be good that is, not the latin). I have had three lessons now, they have lasted from 1.30- 2 hrs. I have a headache. This is the book we are using. We have had three lessons, this is only one of our pages that we had to translate. My husband says that I am the worst student, I want to poke my tongue out….

Tommorow, the children and I am going to a 70’s party, to raise money for a camp that the children of our church are going to. At the last moment to register, Jared said that the children could go afterall, phew. I asked if we could make a few things, and the money made could go all to the camp. I hope something sells.Hair clips, for $1 each.more sewing of baby dolls and hairbands. Alycia made some rings, and cut some styrefoam to display them.Alycia made rice the other night, don’t you love what she did with the rice? And on another note, I can finally show you the elephant that Steph made for her Grandfather.Speaking of Steph, she got her results for her maths exam. She had only gone to three lessons before she did an exam, and she topped the class!! Haha, that is so funny.

Like a Kid in a Candy Store

Published by under sewing

I was so excited yesterday to head off to “Meet Me at Mikes” to drop off some softies that I had made. I was so thrilled to see all of the beautiful toys ready to give to children who need an extra love this Christmas. Here are the toys that Steph and I made. Steph made the crocheted lion and penguin. She whipped those up within a day! Here is a closer look at the penguin. She is amazing!

I was a bit stressed about my drive to Fitzroy, I thought that I would never find a park, but I did, just outside the shop! She put our teddies in the shop window straight away 😀 You can see more about this here.http://meetmeatmikes.blogspot.com/2010/09/fourth-annual-softies-for-mirabel.html The children and I loved ohhing and ahhing over all the cute toys, everyone picked out their favourites.andThe children and I enjoyed the morning. After some shopping in the afternoon, it was off to the Girls Brigade evening. The get you to join in the games, which is a bit of fun, in an awkward kinda way.

No for some reason, my computer won’t let me put any more photos up on my blog, so my ranting with pictures, will have to keep until next time.

Girls Day Out

Published by under Uncategorized

Today I had a lovely day out with Alycia, we went shopping! It was nice just to hang out. I didn’t have to buy any Christmas presents (because I have them all wrapped already), so it was nice just to potter. I didn’t buy anything exciting, just underwear for myself and Steph (the children say I have a thing for buying underwear, go figure), then we picked up Lachlan…now he is on holidays, yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It’s hard to tell from the above photo, but these are some baby clothes for a school friend of mine, who just had her first baby. I decided to try and make some clothes into cupcakes. I sent the parcel off today.
